NPB · Pacific LeagueOrix Buffaloes Tickets 2027: Osaka Game-Day Guide
The Orix Buffaloes play in Osaka under the roof of Kyocera Dome, with a few home games in Kobe, and they took three straight league pennants from 2021 to 2023. This guide covers both ballparks, the subway, the best seats, Osaka food, the club's five Japan Series titles and the 2027 calendar, which has not been published yet.
Orix Buffaloes: Osaka's Pacific League Champions
The Orix Buffaloes are the Pacific League club of Osaka and a team with one of the more tangled and fascinating histories in Japanese baseball. The franchise traces back to 1936, when it began as the Hankyu club, and today carries the name of the finance company Orix. A merger with the Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes in the mid-2000s combined two traditions into the team you can see today.
Five Japan Series championships belong to the franchise: three in a row in the 1970s as the Hankyu Braves, one in 1996 as the Blue Wave, and the most recent in 2022 under the Buffaloes name. Between 2021 and 2023 the club also took three consecutive league pennants, a golden stretch that restored Osaka's Pacific League pride. If you are planning a trip around the NPB 2027 season, the Buffaloes offer a lively Kansai alternative to the more famous Tigers.
Ichiro and the Blue Wave years
The retired superstar Ichiro Suzuki began his pro career with the Orix Blue Wave in the 1990s and became a national phenomenon in Kobe and Osaka before heading to the major leagues. Older fans still talk about those seasons with real affection.
Kyocera Dome Osaka and the Kobe Home Games
The Buffaloes play most of their home games at Kyocera Dome Osaka, a covered stadium that opened in 1997 and holds around 36,600. Because it is a dome, rain never interrupts the game and air conditioning keeps the summer humidity out. The field is wide, the stands are steeply stacked, and the concourses are broad enough to handle large crowds on big nights.
The dome has a second life in August, when the Hanshin Tigers move over from Koshien to make way for the high school tournament. That means some of the most atmospheric Tigers home games take place here, a useful fact if your trip falls in late summer.
Hotto Motto Field Kobe: the Buffaloes' second home
A handful of Buffaloes home games each season are staged at Hotto Motto Field Kobe, an open-air ballpark in a leafy park setting. It is smaller and more relaxed than the Osaka dome and offers a very different feel, with city views and a more neighborhood crowd. Check the official schedule carefully to see which venue your game uses.
Getting to Buffaloes Games: Dome-mae Chiyozaki and Kobe
For games in Osaka, take the Osaka Metro Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line to Dome-mae Chiyozaki Station, which sits right next to the dome, or use the Hanshin Namba Line, which also stops in the area. From Umeda, Namba or Shin-Osaka a transfer or two will get you there, and the total ride is typically around half an hour. The area fills with fans before first pitch, so follow them and you cannot go wrong.
For Kobe games, the Kobe subway Seishin-Yamate Line stops at Sogo Undo Koen Station near the ballpark. Check your ticket closely, because the two stadiums are in different cities.
Where to stay for Buffaloes baseball
Namba and Umeda are the two classic bases in Osaka, both with endless hotels, restaurants and rail connections. Staying near Shin-Osaka makes it easy to combine a game with bullet train trips to Kyoto, Hiroshima or Tokyo.
Sightseeing near a Buffaloes game
Dotonbori, Osaka Castle and the Shinsekai district are close enough for a day plan. See our baseball road trip guide for ways to link Osaka with other ballparks.
Buffaloes Atmosphere: Songs, Cheering Sections and Osaka Food
Buffaloes crowds are noisy, warm and very Osaka. Organized cheering sections in the outfield lead the stadium with trumpets, drums and flags, and each batter has an individual chant that the fans sing along to. When the home team bats, the stands move together; when the visitors hit, the sound dies down so fans can follow each pitch. The home color is dark blue and gold, and you will see it everywhere.
Mascots Buffalo Bull and Buffalo Bell wander the park and are popular with kids and photographers.
Osaka food to try at a Buffaloes game
Osaka is famous for casual food, and the dome reflects it. Look for takoyaki octopus balls, okonomiyaki, kushikatsu skewers and plenty of fried snacks, plus the usual curry rice and beer from roaming vendors. If you have extra time, a post-game dinner in Dotonbori will complete the Osaka experience.
Fan gear for Buffaloes games
Jerseys, towels and caps are easy to find in the team shop. Wearing the club colors helps you blend in with the home crowd.
Best Seats for Buffaloes Games at Kyocera Dome
The best view of pitching and fielding comes from the infield, behind home plate and along the baselines. Upper infield rows cost less and still show the entire field, so they suit first-time visitors well. If you want the loudest and most energetic experience, head to the outfield cheering zones.
The Buffaloes' supporters hold one outfield end and sing for most of the game, while visiting fans take the opposite end. Sit with the home crowd if you want to join the chants, or choose the visitor end if you are backing the opposition. For a quieter night, the infield is the safer pick.
Field-level and premium Buffaloes seats
Seats close to the field are thrilling but popular, and Buffaloes games against top Pacific League rivals or on weekends can sell out. Buy as soon as sales open, and remember that foul balls can reach these rows.
Seating tips for families
Use the official seating chart to identify family blocks and children's pricing. Reserved seats guarantee a place together, while free seating means arriving early.
Buffaloes Rivalries and the 2027 Season Outlook
Within the Pacific League, the Buffaloes' biggest tests come from the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks and the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. Our Hawks guide covers the dominant champions of recent years, and the Tigers guide introduces the Kansai neighbors who sometimes share the dome. In interleague play, series against Hanshin carry extra Kansai pride.
The 2027 calendar has not been announced. NPB normally releases the next schedule in autumn or winter, and the regular season has typically opened in late March, followed by the Climax Series and the Japan Series. Treat any early listing as provisional until it is official.
