MLB World Tour 2027MLB World Tour 2027: Is There an International Series This Year?
As of October 11, 2026, no international series has been announced for the MLB World Tour 2027. This page explains what that means, recaps the history of regular-season games played abroad in Tokyo, London, Mexico City, Seoul and elsewhere, clarifies the situation of Paris, and describes what could change. A free email alert tells you the moment a 2027 game abroad is confirmed.
MLB World Tour 2027: current status of international games
The short answer is that no MLB World Tour series is scheduled for 2027. The official 2027 calendar, with 2,430 games and an Opening Day on Thursday, March 25, 2027, does not include a regular-season series outside North America. League officials did not plan one, partly because of the risk of a lockout.
That risk is real: the collective bargaining agreement expires on December 1, 2026, owners are proposing a salary cap, and as of October 11, 2026 there is neither a deal nor a lockout. When a labor stoppage is possible, overseas events, which require long planning, are the first thing to be postponed. Nothing is decided, but the absence of a 2027 series is consistent with that caution.
If you were hoping to see a major league game in Asia, Europe or Latin America next year, this is disappointing news, but it does not close the door. You can follow the whole season on the 2027 MLB schedule and read about the labor situation on our lockout page.
MLB World Tour history: games played abroad before 2027
The league has played regular-season games outside the United States and Canada for decades. Since 2023, the initiative has carried the name MLB World Tour. Here is the verified record by location.
| Location | Years |
|---|---|
| Tokyo, Japan | 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2019, 2025 |
| Monterrey, Mexico | 1996, 1999, 2018, 2019 |
| Mexico City, Mexico | 2023, 2024, 2026 |
| London, England | 2019, 2023, 2024 |
| Seoul, South Korea | 2024 |
| Sydney, Australia | 2014 |
Puerto Rico, a United States commonwealth, is counted separately: games have been played at Estadio Hiram Bithorn in San Juan since 2001. The table above is therefore about games in foreign countries, while the Puerto Rico games form their own tradition.
The pattern shows a league that likes to go where the audience is large: Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Korea. Each destination has a strong fan base, and the events have become a way to grow baseball internationally.
The Tokyo, Seoul and Sydney series in the MLB World Tour story
The Tokyo Series, from 2000 to 2025
Japan is the longest-running destination, with regular-season games in 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2019 and 2025. The Tokyo Series benefits from a baseball culture with an elite domestic league, which is why it features so often. Our NPB guide explains Japan's professional league.
The Seoul Series of 2024
South Korea hosted its first regular-season series in Seoul in 2024. It was a landmark for a country with its own passionate baseball scene, described in our KBO guide.
Sydney in 2014
Australia hosted a series in Sydney in 2014. It remains the only such series in the southern hemisphere on the list, and no repeat has been announced.
None of these destinations has a 2027 date. They illustrate how the league chooses places with large audiences, strong stadium options and organizers willing to host.
MLB World Tour 2027 background: the London and Mexico City Series
The London Series: 2019, 2023 and 2024
London hosted three series. In 2019, the Yankees beat the Red Sox in both games, 17-13 and 12-8. In 2023, the Cardinals and Cubs split a two-game series, with the Cubs winning 9-1 and the Cardinals 7-5. In 2024, the Mets and Phillies also split, the Phillies winning 7-2 and the Mets 6-5. A 2026 London Series was planned but has been cancelled, and no further London dates have been formally announced.
The Mexico City Series: 2023, 2024 and 2026
Mexico City hosted games in 2023, 2024 and 2026. The 2026 edition featured the Diamondbacks and the Padres on April 25 and 26, 2026. Monterrey also had earlier games, in 1996, 1999, 2018 and 2019. Mexico has an enormous baseball audience, and our Mexican League guide shows how deep that passion runs.
If you want a taste of international baseball in the meantime, our World Baseball Classic page covers the national-team tournament. Venezuela won the 2026 edition, beating the United States 3-2 in the final at loanDepot park in Miami on March 17, 2026. The next edition is announced for 2030, with hosts and dates still unannounced.
MLB World Tour 2027 and Paris: what is the real situation?
Paris has been the dream destination for many European fans. The league had planned a series at the Stade de France starting in 2025, but that plan was cancelled: no promoter could be found, and building a regulation field in a stadium designed for other sports was complicated. To date, no MLB regular-season game has been played in Paris, and no date has been announced.
What it would take for a Paris series
A series needs a stadium that can be configured for baseball, a promoter, a broadcast plan, travel logistics for two teams and a calendar window. Each of these has to work at the same time, which explains why announcements come well in advance, often a year or more.
Why European fans should still pay attention
Our guide for European fans explains how to experience the sport from across the Atlantic, and our Caribbean guide covers another essential region of baseball culture.
Do not trust any website claiming Paris tickets are on sale. There is nothing to buy because no game exists.
What could happen next in the MLB World Tour
The honest answer is that nobody outside the league knows. A few possibilities are reasonable to consider, though none is announced.
An announcement later in 2027 for 2028
A destination for a later year could be revealed once the labor situation is settled. The 2026 Mexico City Series shows the league is still active in this area.
A return to Tokyo, Mexico City or London
These have a track record. If a new deal is reached, they are natural candidates, but this is speculation and not a prediction.
A new destination
The league could also open a market it has not visited. That would be news for the whole sport. If it happens, we will update this page and email everyone on the alert.
Meanwhile, the best options for fans are the regular season, Spring Training and special games in the United States, such as the Field of Dreams game on August 12, 2027, and the Little League Classic on August 19, 2027.
MLB World Tour 2027 tickets and how to avoid scams
Because no international game is scheduled, there are no official MLB World Tour 2027 tickets. If you see a listing for one, treat it with suspicion. Real series have historically been announced by the league well ahead of time, with a clear sales process.
How tickets for an international series usually work
When a series exists, tickets are generally sold in a staged process, with priority for local fan communities, packages that include travel and a general sale afterward. Demand tends to exceed capacity, and the secondary market is active. None of this applies yet to 2027.
Protect yourself
Never pay for tickets to a game that has not been announced. Avoid unusual payment methods and listings that appear to come from nowhere. Wait for the official confirmation and use the alert on this page. For general advice, our tickets FAQ covers common questions.
How this site helps
We are independent and do not sell tickets. Our job is to tell you when something is confirmed so you can act quickly, and to keep the facts accurate.
Questions about MLB World Tour 2027
Is there an MLB World Tour series in 2027?
No series is announced for 2027. The official calendar has 2,430 games starting March 25, 2027, with no regular-season series abroad. League planning was cautious because of the possible labor stoppage. You can join the alert on this page to be told if that changes.
Where has MLB played regular-season games abroad?
Tokyo (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2019, 2025), Monterrey (1996, 1999, 2018, 2019), Mexico City (2023, 2024, 2026), London (2019, 2023, 2024), Seoul (2024) and Sydney (2014). Puerto Rico has also hosted games, but it is a US commonwealth.
Has MLB ever played a regular-season game in Paris?
No. A series at the Stade de France was planned starting in 2025, but it was cancelled because no promoter was found and a baseball field was hard to set up there. No Paris date has been announced since, so no tickets exist.
What happened to the London Series in 2026?
A London Series planned for 2026 was cancelled. London had hosted games in 2019, 2023 and 2024, and no new London dates have been formally announced. If a new series is revealed, we will update this page and email alert subscribers.
Why would a lockout affect international games?
Overseas series require long planning, travel and venue contracts, so they are fragile when a work stoppage is possible. The labor agreement expires on December 1, 2026, with no deal and no lockout as of October 11, 2026. Nothing is decided.
How can I be notified if an international series is announced?
Leave your email in the alert box on this page. We send a message when a game abroad is confirmed, when tickets open or when a date changes. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and we never sell tickets ourselves.
